{"id":9765,"date":"2018-10-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"uncategorized\/the-push-for-5g-at-600-mhz-whats-ahead\/"},"modified":"2020-07-29T15:25:25","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T15:25:25","slug":"5g-600-mhz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"news\/5g-600-mhz\/","title":{"rendered":"The Push for 5G at 600 MHz: What\u2019s Ahead?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>More and more companies are are pushing for 5G at 600 MHz as a way to provide better choices of wireless service for rural customers. <\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>600 MHz and the 5G Push<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In September, T-Mobile announced a rollout of 600 MHz (Band 71) Extended Range LTE coverage in <u><a title=\"T-Mobile 600 MHz Cities and Towns\" href=\"http:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.t-mobile.com%2Fcontent%2Fdam%2Ft-mobile%2Fcorporate%2Fnewsroom%2Farticles%2F2018%2F09%2F600-mhz-update-puerto-rico%2FT-Mobile-600-MHz-Cities-and-Towns.pdf&amp;esheet=51863975&amp;newsitemid=20180910005492&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=1%2C254%C2%A0cities+and+towns+in%C2%A036%C2%A0states&amp;index=1&amp;md5=565b234c56a8b5baf03c7191beb2e166\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">1,254 cities and towns in 36 states<\/a><\/u>, including over 100 localities in Puerto Rico. The operator has named its service \u2018Extended Range LTE\u2019 due to the low-band spectrum\u2019s characteristics of covering a larger area, \u201cfour times better in buildings than mid-band LTE.&#8221; By laying the foundation for 5G at 600 MHz, T-Mobile is expanding its network coverage and enhancing capacity by utilizing low-band radio wave propagation.<\/p>\n<p>Neville Ray, Chief Technology Officer for T-Mobile shared more on the update:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cOur swift deployment of 600 MHz spectrum is a game changer. While paving the way for the next generation of wireless tech, we\u2019re bringing choice to consumers, mainly in rural areas, who\u2019ve been forced to rely on the other guys in the past.
